Altoetting

The Academy is situated in Altoetting, Germany´s biggst Marian shrine. In the “Chapel of Grace”, on Chapel Square, a statue of Our Lady has been venerated for hundreds of years by innumerable pilgrims.

There is a second saint who is venerated in Altoetting: brother Konrad of Parzham, who died in 1894. His church is also in the center of the city.

Thousands of pilgrims come from all over Germany and from the whole world. They find here a place of silence, where they can bring their demands, pray God and experience inner and exterior healing.

Pope Benedict XVI was born only a few kilometers from
Altoetting and spent his childhood and youth near this shrine, which he often visited. During his last visit here in September 2006, he said: „Here is the home of the Mother of Grace of Altoetting.”

For more than fifteen years the Emmanuel community invites young people, families and teens to the International Forum in Altoetting. In these days the Chape Square is full of a young and living church. 1996 the International Academy for Evengelisation (now ESM) moved to the Josefsburg, a beautiful building very near to the center of Altoetting.
